The telecom cloud market is expected to increase to $126 billion at a CAGR of 34.9% from 2025 to 2030. The 5G telco cloud promises faster speeds or lower latency, and it’s also about turning telecom operators into agile, service-oriented platforms capable of supporting next-generation innovations. From smart cities and connected healthcare to industrial automation and immersive media, there’s a clear opportunity here: modernise telecom infrastructure. While making sure it is secure and interoperable.

India’s digital transformation is progressing, but there are still clear gaps in implementation. The draft National Telecom Policy 2025 (NTP-25) sets bold targets to achieve 100% population coverage with 4G and 90% coverage with 5G by 2030. It also seeks to extend fixed broadband to 100 million homes, create one million new jobs, and reskill another million workers. These goals sketch a roadmap for digital inclusion, workforce empowerment, and infrastructure modernisation, all essential for telco cloud adoption.

India’s smartphone boom, led by Gen Z, accounts for 44% of all sales. According to another Ericsson Mobility report, India is projected to surpass 1 billion 5G subscriptions by 2031, reaching 79% penetration—making 5G truly mainstream.

As telcos invest billions to support OTT-driven data surges, it’s debatable whether large OTT players should contribute to network costs. This debate underscores the need for sustainable, collaborative models to fund future digital infrastructure.

Distributed 5G telco cloud deployments allow for edge and on-premises configurations that respect data residency, enhance cybersecurity, and reduce dependency on foreign-controlled systems, vital for sensitive sectors like healthcare, defence, and finance.
