Karan Aneja and Zachary Jones gained attention in May 2013 when serial investors Meena and Krishnan Ganesh acquired Portea Medical, their in-home healthcare startup. The duo, both American expats, met in Delhi and identified the lack of home healthcare services in India. Inspired by Jones’ mother, a home nurse in the U.S., they built a network of 25 clinicians and partnered with hospitals in Delhi and Bangalore. With 3,000 patients per month, Portea’s detailed patient records have also attracted interest from insurance firms seeking reliable healthcare data.
