Kaviya Kalanithi Maran has been instrumental in redefining one of India’s leading broadcasting groups—the Sun TV Network. Having finished her schooling in Chennai and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business, she was inducted on the board of the listed Sun TV Network as an additional director in 2019 and elevated as executive director later. As a next-gen leader of the Sun Group, she has been instrumental in carving out its digital strategy, especially for its FM radio channels and the content play of the network’s OTT platform Sun NXT. She is also the head of the sports division at the Sun Group, which owns the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 2022, Sun expanded its cricket presence into South Africa’s SA20 League with Sunrisers Eastern Cape. And earlier this year, it bought the Yorkshire-based Northern Superchargers in the U.K.’s The Hundred league. With cricket teams, an OTT platform, and FM channels to manage, she has her hands full.
