About

The force behind JK Cement's capacity expansion into new territories, including Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar, Madhav Singhania has led the production to scale to 30 MTPA in grey cement, grown the paints and putty business, and has also put in place novel sustainability initiatives over the past year. “The scaling happened post commissioning of our recent expansion in Bihar‚” Singhania says. The advanced grey cement grinding unit worth `550 crore with 3-MTPA capacity was commissioned in January in Buxar, Bihar. “We are also the first national brand to set up a manufacturing unit in Kashmir‚” he adds, sharing that the Indian operations declared their highest-ever consolidated Ebitda of `2,374 crore last year. Next, Singhania has set his eyes on capacity expansion to 50 MTPA by 2030, along with emphasis on building materials and paints businesses, and sustainability. The roadmap is clear. “We have taken up large projects with an outlay of `4,800 crore, wherein we are further increasing our capacity by 7 MTPA. We are setting up an integrated unit in Jaisalmer and two split-grinding units. One in Bikaner and the other one in Bhatinda, Punjab‚” he explains. Capacity expansion to 50 MTPA will entail an additional investment worth `10,000-12,000 crore, he adds. Value-added products are another focus areas. “We will continue to expand the building material space. We launched our ready-mix concrete business last year. We are looking at water-proofing, tile adhesives, and will continue to grow the paints businesses,” he says, adding, the it is likely to break even this year.
