Meera Sanyal was an Indian banker and politician who served as CEO and Chairperson of the Royal Bank of Scotland in India. In 2013, she left her banking career to enter politics, joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Sanyal contested the Mumbai South constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections but was unsuccessful. She was also a member of the International Council on Women's Business Leadership, chaired by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Sanyal passed away on January 11, 2019, after battling cancer.
