Sisters Kainaz Messman Harchandrai and Tina Messman Wykes co-founded Theobroma in 2004, starting with a single café in Mumbai's Colaba neighborhood. Kainaz, trained at Le Cordon Bleu, brought her pastry expertise, while Tina, a chartered accountant, managed the business aspects. Their focus on quality and "affordable luxury" quickly gained popularity, leading to expansion across India. By 2024, Theobroma had grown to 225 outlets nationwide.
