About

As a co-founder of Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech International Ltd (BBIL), Suchitra Ella was in the thick of the news when her company became India’s first, and among the world’s pioneering entities to develop a Covid-19 vaccine. The company’s preparedness for future outbreaks continues. In the past 12 months, BBIL has established one of its largest human vaccine manufacturing facilities in Bhubaneswar, with an investment exceeding ₹1,500 crore. “This state-of-the-art facility (operated by subsidiary Sapigen) is setting a new benchmark for vaccine and biotechnology product manufacturing”, Ella says. The company has established a robust professional expertise across more than 25 specialised domains within the life sciences sector. “As a leader, I am deeply involved in shaping the company’s women’s leadership initiatives, driving our strategic vision, strengthening corporate governance, and overseeing our CSR and public relations efforts,” says Ella, BBIL’s MD.
