After serving for over 14 years on the board of HDFC Life, and eight years as its CEO & MD, milestones aren’t new for Vibha Padalkar. During her tenure, HDFC Life’s assets under management have risen 3.5 times to ₹3,752 crore in FY26 from ₹1,066 crore in FY18. The insurer’s market share in FY26 was 11% overall and 15.2% in the private sector. “I do what I think needs to be done for a person in this role. Business strategy cannot change each year, but we must aim to grow faster than the industry,” Padalkar says. The insurer did not reveal the FY27 guidance owing to the global volatility, but looks to continue to outperform the market. In April, she was re-appointed as MD & CEO for five years from September, pending regulatory and shareholder nod.
