Kepler Aerospace raises $8 million seed round to build autonomous swarming satellite constellation

Bengaluru-based space infrastructure and mission operations company Kepler Aerospace has raised $8 million in a seed funding round led by Blue Ashva Capital and co-led by Finvolve India Accelerator and others. The round is the company’s first external funding since it was founded in 2018.
The company will use the capital to develop and deploy space-based persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, while scaling its Mission Operations as a Service and Avionics as a Service business.
A key focus will be the launch of Kepler’s first six swarming ISR satellites under two IDEX prime contracts secured by the company. The contracts are aimed at providing swarming ISR constellations to India’s defence space ecosystem and are backed by about $4 million in grants under the IDEX programme.
Kepler Aerospace to deploy six swarming ISR satellites
Kepler said its technology brings together satellite and avionics systems, ground infrastructure, mission operations and intelligence platforms. The company is focused on reducing intelligence latency from months to minutes through persistent ISR systems and integrated mission infrastructure.
Its Mission Operations as a Service platform serves nearly all Indian space companies and acts as the primary mission operator for several ISRO satellites. Kepler also operates a network of more than 70 ground stations, providing satellite communication, tracking, telemetry, command and mission operations capabilities.
Navneet Singh, Founder and CEO, Kepler Aerospace, said, “The next generation of national security will increasingly depend on the ability to see, understand and respond faster. Space can provide that persistent layer of awareness, but it requires more than satellites; it requires the avionics, ground systems, mission operations and intelligence infrastructure to work as one integrated system.”
“This funding allows us to take the capabilities we have built over the last several years and deploy them at a meaningful scale. Our immediate focus is on executing our IDEX programmes, deploying our first six swarming ISR satellites and continuing to build the infrastructure required for persistent, low-latency intelligence,” he added.
Blue Ashva Capital founder Satya Bansal said Kepler is building an autonomous swarming satellite architecture in which satellites can communicate, task each other and operate in orbit without waiting for a ground station.
“That collapses the intelligence cycle from days to minutes, and it changes what a country can see and decide for itself. This is a capability of sovereign importance,” Bansal said.
Finvolve co-founder and India Accelerator founder and CEO Ashish Bhatia said Kepler’s ability to combine engineering capabilities with a path to deployment was a key differentiator.
“Space is moving beyond satellites and launch capabilities towards integrated, intelligent infrastructure that can deliver real-time outcomes for defence, national security and commercial applications,” Bhatia said.
Over the next 12-24 months, Kepler plans to deploy the first six swarming ISR satellites, expand its mission and avionics-as-a-service businesses and strengthen its engineering capabilities. It is also moving into a new facility and plans to add 40 employees to its current team.
