MediaTek has unveiled the Dimensity 9400+, the latest addition to its Dimensity series of mobile system-on-chips (SoCs). According to the press release, this new platform emphasizes advancements in generative and agentic artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, along with general performance improvements, while maintaining a focus on power efficiency.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ amplifies the previous model’s (9400) performance with a higher CPU clock speed and enhanced agentic AI capabilities. It also notably extends Bluetooth range, positioning it to compete fiercely against Qualcomm and Samsung in the high-end Android market.

According to JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek, the Dimensity 9400+ is designed to facilitate the integration of on-device AI features, with a focus on personalized user experiences. The company is collaborating with developers and manufacturers to expand the ecosystem of AI applications.

The focus remains on AI though. The platform incorporates the MediaTek NPU 890, which supports a range of large language models (LLMs) across various regions. This list includes Deepseek’s R1 Distill model. The chipset includes support for Mixture-of-Experts (MoE), Multi-Head Latent Attention (MLA), Multi-Token Prediction (MTP), and FP8 inferencing, aiming to improve reasoning speeds. Additionally, Speculative Decoding+ (SpD+) is included to enhance agentic AI performance. The in-built Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) is supposed to simplify the development of a variety of AI applications.

India's Top 100 Billionaires

August 2025

As India continues to be the world’s fastest-growing major economy, Fortune India presents its special issue on the nation’s Top 100 Billionaires. Curated in partnership with Waterfield Advisors, this year’s list reflects a slight decline in the number of dollar billionaires—from 185 to 182—even as the entry threshold for the Top 100 rose to ₹24,283 crore, up from ₹22,739 crore last year. From stalwarts like Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and the Mistry family, who continue to lead the list, to major gainers such as Sunil Mittal and Kumar Mangalam Birla, the issue goes beyond the numbers to explore the resilience, ambition, and strategic foresight that define India’s wealth creators. The Dimensity 9400+ integrates a 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU, designed to improve visual experiences in mobile gaming. Features such as opacity micromap (OMM) support are included to enhance the realism of graphical elements. The GPU also aims to maintain consistent gameplay performance. The platform includes a frame rate converter 2.0+ (MFRC 2.0+), developed in collaboration with game developers, which aims to improve frame rates and power efficiency. What does this mean? In simpler terms, if you’re playing your favorite games, expect more realistic vegetation, character hair, and feathers, and nearly 40% better power efficiency.

Additional features of the Dimensity 9400+ include:

Extended phone-to-phone Bluetooth connectivity, with a stated range of up to 10km

Wi-Fi 7 tri-band concurrency with five streams

MediaTek Xtra Range for extended Wi-Fi coverage

5G/4G Dual SIM Dual Active, Dual Data capabilities

While Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite is known for its raw CPU power, the Dimensity 9400+ can be expected to excel in GPU (and AI) performance and power efficiency. In terms of flagships housing this new chip, we will get to see it in action in the Oppo Find X8 and the much-awaited Vivo X200s.
