Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has renewed its multi-year title partnership with Jaguar TCS Racing and expanded its role to become the team’s Official AI Partner, as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship moves into its new GEN4 era. The renewed association comes after Jaguar TCS Racing won the 2025/26 Teams’ World Championship, powered by four victories and 10 podium finishes during the season.
The partnership, which has now completed five years, will focus on using artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies to improve racing operations and engineering while generating insights that can feed into the development of next-generation Jaguar electric vehicles. TCS has also been a strategic technology partner to JLR for more than a decade.
AI to play bigger role in Jaguar's Formula E programme
Under the expanded partnership, TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing will explore applications of AI across racing operations, engineering and performance optimisation. The technology push builds on the digital capabilities already deployed by the two companies, including cloud computing and digital twin technology.
At the centre of this collaboration is TCS's Virtual Vehicle Validation Model (V3M), which enables Jaguar TCS Racing engineers to validate software changes and run continuous simulations before making decisions in the time-sensitive environment of Formula E. The companies said these capabilities are aimed at improving race performance while supporting the broader electrification journey from the racetrack to road cars.
Abhinav Kumar, Global Chief Marketing Officer, TCS, said the renewed partnership would allow the companies to build on the momentum of Jaguar TCS Racing's championship success.
“With this renewal, we will further harness AI and advanced technologies to unlock more performance opportunities to help Jaguar TCS Racing compete for more podiums and championship wins,” Kumar said.
For JLR, the partnership is also positioned as a technology-development programme rather than being limited to motorsport sponsorship. Chris Thorp, Chairman of JLR Motorsport, which operates Jaguar TCS Racing, said the collaboration had helped the team push the boundaries of performance, efficiency and innovation.
He added that entering the GEN4 era would allow the partnership to further use data and AI to improve motorsport performance while informing the development of future Jaguar cars.
Jaguar enters GEN4 as reigning Formula E champion
Jaguar TCS Racing enters the GEN4 era after securing its second Teams’ World Championship in 2026, having previously won the title in 2024. The team has now claimed two of the last three Teams’ championships and has recorded more than 20 race victories and over 60 podium finishes since Jaguar entered Formula E in 2016.
During the GEN3 Evo era, the team raced the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 and recorded 10 race wins across the Season 11 and Season 12 campaigns, the highest number of victories by any team during that period. Jaguar has also committed to the GEN4 era, which begins in 2026 and runs through Seasons 13 to 16.
Jaguar's Formula E programme has a direct engineering link to its electric-vehicle ambitions. As an official manufacturer team, Jaguar develops its own powertrain, including the motor generator unit, transmission, inverter and rear suspension. The company will also supply its powertrain to the Envision Formula E Team and Fortescue Zero Racing for the GEN4 era.
The common chassis and battery architecture used in Formula E allows manufacturers to focus their development efforts on electric powertrain efficiency and weight. According to the release, the resulting learnings are intended to improve the performance and range of future JLR electric vehicles.
TCS-Jaguar partnership extends beyond the racetrack
The collaboration also includes an education and sustainability component. Through TCS' Ignite My Future initiative, nearly 30,000 students across 16 countries have explored applications of racing data, design and strategy since 2023. Hundreds of students have also participated in trackside experiences at Formula E races.
The expanded Jaguar partnership also comes as TCS deepens its presence in the UK. The IT services company said it has a 50-year presence in the country and works with more than 200 of the UK's top brands. Earlier this year, TCS confirmed plans to create 5,000 new jobs in the UK over the next three years.
TCS reported consolidated revenue of more than $30 billion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, according to the company.
For JLR, meanwhile, Formula E remains part of its broader Reimagine strategy, with the championship serving as a test bed for electric-vehicle technologies and a route for transferring learnings between racing and road-car development.
