HyperVault, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has acquired 264 acres of land in Hyderabad to develop a large-scale artificial intelligence data centre campus, with the project and its associated infrastructure expected to involve an investment of up to ₹70,000 crore.

The proposed campus will have computing capacity of up to 1 gigawatt (GW) and is being designed to cater to global AI companies and hyperscalers requiring high-density, liquid-cooled computing infrastructure. The development will be rolled out in phases, depending on customer demand and evolving technology requirements.

₹70,000 crore AI infrastructure push

The project marks a significant expansion of India’s AI infrastructure capacity as demand for high-performance computing rises alongside the adoption of generative AI and other compute-intensive applications. HyperVault and its partners are expected to invest up to ₹70,000 crore to build and operate the campus.

The company said the development will create several thousand direct and indirect jobs in the region. The facility will also incorporate green energy and water-neutral design principles as part of its development.

“Hyderabad offers the scale, talent and ecosystem to serve global customers,” Krithivasan said.

The project is also expected to strengthen the city’s position in the global data centre and AI infrastructure market, particularly as enterprises and technology companies seek access to dedicated computing resources for AI workloads.

Telangana targets AI infrastructure leadership

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy described the development as a “historic” project for the state and the country, arguing that the availability of large-scale AI computing infrastructure could give Telangana a competitive advantage.

He said Hyderabad was emerging as a major centre of the global AI revolution, adding that access to AI models and computing capacity was increasingly becoming a form of public infrastructure.

With a planned capacity of up to 1 GW, the HyperVault campus is expected to be developed progressively rather than commissioned as a single-phase project. The pace of investment and expansion will be aligned with customer requirements and advances in AI computing technology.
