Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled four new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) concepts during its Independence Day Mumbai event. The SUV series are based on the automaker’s all-new modular and multi-energy NU_IQ platform
The four SUVs represent different families of vehicles in different segments within the SUV family termed as Vision X, Vision T, Vision S, and Vision SXT.
Engineered at the Mahindra Research Valley, the concepts are expected to go into production from 2027.
“NU_IQ is a strategic blueprint for the future of Mahindra SUVs globally. With its modular, multi-energy architecture, it gives us the flexibility to innovate across multiple top hats and powertrains whilst staying true to our SUV DNA. Designed to resolve paradoxes, NU_IQ forms the foundation for our next generation of SUVs. It marks a bold step and the start of a new era that frees customers from compromises and puts truly desirable, premium core SUVs squarely in the mainstream,” said R Velusamy, President - Automotive Business (Designate), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., in a statement.
The NU_IQ multi-energy platform enables the creation of SUVs that offer commanding seating, superior driving dynamics, a flat-floor layout for maximum cabin and boot space, lightweight design with top-tier safety, and futuristic in-car technology through the intuitive NU_UX system.
What makes NU_IQ truly versatile is its adaptability. The platform can support multiple body styles, a wide range of powertrains (ICE, hybrid, EV), both front-wheel and all-wheel drive, as well as left- and right-hand drive configurations. The platform will also underpin the C-segment vehicles of the brand that will enable it to cater to both international and domestic markets, including left-hand drive regions such as the U.S.
