The company said the expansion includes new manufacturing campuses, shopfloors, service and training centres, and precision equipment manufacturing across its electrification, motion and automation businesses.

The announcement was made as ABB Group CEO Morten Wierod led the ground breaking of a new integrated Motion facility in Peenya and inaugurated the Electrification and Automation Nelamangala Campus 2 on Kunigal Road in Bengaluru.

What new facilities is ABB building?

ABB’s Motion business is expanding its Peenya campus with two new manufacturing units spread across about 6,100 square metres, which will accommodate up to 300 employees once fully operational.

The facility will produce a range of energy-efficient motors, including flameproof designs, roller table motors and smoke ventilation motors, along with low-voltage drives and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

The site will also house a service and training centre equipped with digital tools and remote diagnostics to support customers across the lifecycle of the equipment.

What is the role of the Nelamangala campus?

ABB has also inaugurated a 16,470 sq m multi-business manufacturing hub at its Nelamangala campus to expand production for its electrification and automation businesses.

The facility will manufacture solutions such as smart power technologies, system interface units, gas analyser system integration, excitation systems and high-power rectifiers.

Manufacturing of power management solutions for data centres is expected to scale nearly tenfold at the campus. ABB’s low- and medium-voltage systems already power over 30% of India’s hyperscale data centres, the company said.

The expansion follows ABB’s announcement of a $75 million investment in 2026 to expand manufacturing and research and development capabilities in India. According to the company’s statement, it has invested more than $35 million in India in 2025.

The investment is expected to create over 300 skilled jobs across engineering, operations and research.
