This new sponsorship covers 21 ICC and 121 bilateral matches, with Apollo paying ₹4.5 crore per match, which is higher than Dream11. The BCCI's search for a sponsor intensified due to the Asia Cup and upcoming tournaments.
After the collapse of its sponsorship deal with Dream11 parent Dream Sports, India's cricketing body, BCCI, has selected Apollo Tyres as the new jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team until 2027. Apollo's sponsorship deal with BCCI, which at ₹579 crore is much higher than ₹358 crore Dream11 deal for the same duration, will cover 21 ICC matches and 121 bilateral games, as per media reports.
Apollo Tyres will pay around ₹4.5 crore in sponsorship to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) per match, which is higher than the ₹4 crore paid by the previous sponsor, Dream11. The sponsorship deal comes as BCCI aggressively looked for a sponsor, considering the Asia Cup that started on September 9, 2025, though the India team had to play without a sponsor in the ongoing tournament in Dubai.
Since there’s no official statement on the matter yet, it’s unclear if the women’s team will also feature Apollo Tyres. The Indian women's cricketing team is all set to embark on the upcoming Women’s World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka starting September 30, 2025.
BCCI in August 2025 stated that the cricketing body will end its ₹358-crore jersey sponsorship deal with the sports-tech company following the government's new bill that banned money-based online gaming in India. Dream11 had replaced BYJU's as team India's jersey sponsor in 2023 by signing a ₹358 crore deal for team India's lead jersey sponsor.
The Apollo-BCCI deal comes after reports that companies were queuing up to win the deal to become the official jersey sponsor for BCCI.
On September 2, 2025, the BCCI had invited bids from entities for acquiring the national team lead sponsor rights. In its updated invitation for expression of interest, the cricketing body had set September 12, 2025, as the last date for submission of EoI and September 16 as the date of the submission of bid documents. The eligible bidders were required to have an average turnover for the last 3 (three) years of ₹300 crore or more.
The BCCI had blocked certain brand categories from participating in the sponsorship bidding process because the BCCI has sponsors within these categories. These included athleisure and sportswear manufacturers, banks, banking & financial services and non-banking financial companies; non-alcoholic cold beverages; fans, mixer grinders and safety locks; and insurance.
The cricketing body had placed certain brand categories under "prohibited" categories, which included alcohol products; betting or gambling services; cryptocurrency; online money gaming or any such activities prohibited under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025; tobacco; and one which is likely to offend public morals, including pornography.
