The agreement, signed by JKLC President & Director Arun Shukla in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, is expected to boost India's infrastructure and economic growth.

The project aligns with the Government of India's focus on positioning the Northeast as an industrial and infrastructural growth hub. It is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region and reinforcing India’s position as a rapidly growing economy.

The company says the initiative also "reinforces India’s position as a rapidly growing economy, which is set to attract significant investments in critical sectors like infrastructure and manufacturing, while supporting the nation’s vision of inclusive and sustainable progress".

“This partnership underscores our commitment to sustainable industrial expansion and aligns with our vision to achieve 30 MT by 2030. Beyond strengthening Assam’s infrastructure, this initiative will generate employment opportunities and catalyse economic growth in the region, while contributing to the nation’s broader goals of self-reliance and inclusive development,” says Shukla.

During the two-day Advantage Assam 2.0 summit in February 2024, the government received investment proposals worth ₹5.18 lakh crore, a huge spike from investment proposals worth ₹64,900 crore received during the first edition of the business summit.

Independent legislator Akhil Gogoi, in the state assembly, said total MoUs worth ₹5,18,272.21 crore were signed during the mega business summit.
