Reliance Foundation pledges ₹21 crore for Assam flood relief; Nita Ambani assures continued support

Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita M. Ambani has announced a contribution of ₹21 crore to the Assam Chief Minister's Relief Fund to support families affected by the devastating floods in the state, while reaffirming the Foundation's commitment to ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts. 

In a message to the people of Assam, Ambani expressed solidarity with those impacted by the floods. "Our thoughts, prayers and deepest solidarity are with the people of Assam. My heart goes out to every family that has been affected by these devastating floods. Please know that you are not alone," she said. 

She added that teams from Reliance Foundation and Vantara, along with volunteers from across the Reliance Group, are working closely with the Assam government and local communities to provide relief on the ground. "The people of Assam have always shown extraordinary courage and resilience in the face of adversity. We stand with you today, and we will continue to stand with you in the days ahead, as together we rebuild lives, restore hope and emerge stronger than before," Ambani said. 

The announcement comes as Reliance Foundation continues its multi-sector relief operations in the flood-hit districts of Upper Assam. 

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Ambani and Reliance Foundation for their support, recalling the organisation's assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In a post on social media, Sarma said the Foundation had once again extended timely support by contributing ₹21 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for flood-affected families in Upper Assam. 

He also highlighted the Foundation's ongoing field operations, including the provision of food, public health services, emergency shelter and veterinary care for livestock. 

Reliance Foundation said it is focusing its relief efforts in the worst-affected districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo, with the aim of reaching at least 50,000 vulnerable people through critical relief and recovery measures. 

The Foundation's interventions include restoring damaged water supply systems, deploying water purification units to provide safe drinking water, operating community kitchens serving hot meals, desilting and restoring health centres, conducting door-to-door veterinary campaigns through Vantara, and coordinating with local authorities to ensure targeted delivery of relief materials. 

According to the Foundation, thousands of people in the two districts have already benefited from these initiatives, which will be expanded in the coming days as part of its rehabilitation efforts aimed at helping flood-affected families return to their homes at the earliest.
