India-U.S. are natural synergistic partners: Kiran MazumdarShaw
The U.S. India Business Council (USIBC) held its 43rd annual meeting and India Ideas Summit in Mumbai last week where representatives and officials from both nations stressed on the need to bolster trade ties between India and U.S.
On the sidelines of the event, Fortune India caught up with Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar Shaw to find out how the company is planning to strengthen its position in the U.S. market. Shaw is of the view that the biosimilars space has tremendous potential and said Biocon is focussing on pushing growth in that direction.
Shaw also added that the company is doing its best to cope with compliance challenges when it comes to the US FDA for drug approvals, saying Biocon is confident it can develop a strong compliance culture in line with the US FDA’s standards.
At a time when the White House has been sending out increasingly protectionist messages, Shaw believes it is in the interest of both countries to find areas of synergy and leverage them for growth. She also went on to say that both India and U.S. are natural synergistic partners and collaborations between the two nations can go a long way in pushing growth for both countries.
