OPPO’s years of hard work shines; latest launches show the world its unbeatable tech prowess and commitment to innovation

OPPO has a strong reputation of always daring to venture into the unknown. In looking for breakthroughs and innovative answers, the smart device brand has successfully altered the course of the tech industry, the latest example of that being its first foldable device, the OPPO Find N.

As a brand, OPPO has always led trends, not blindly followed them. For them, the main requirements of any piece of technology are that they look good, are easy to use, and solve for what the consumer wants. The tech industry keeps coming up with new devices every day, but which ones are really solving a consumer pain point? Whether it’s fast charging, high refresh rates, mobile photography, or 5G connectivity, smartphone development has hit a wall, and requires newer ways of thinking. OPPO is the only brand that has time and again proved that you can push the boundaries of innovation, while also creating useful products for the world.

For instance, the brand has always been one of the pioneers in smartphone camera technology. It became the first brand to introduce the 5x Dual Camera Zoom way back in 2017. Pillared on its innovations around software, optics, and image sensors, OPPO has risen to become a smartphone camera behemoth. Even with its 5G-led innovations, OPPO has proved to us constantly that it is not only future ready, but will also positively impact the way we create, communicate, collaborate, consume content and share our experiences with the world.

And all of these victories have not come overnight. The company has invested heavily in its R&D efforts over the years, whether it was by establishing the 5G Innovation Lab at Hyderabad, the Camera Innovation Lab, collaborating with tech start-ups to further localise its innovations, coming up with the annual Inno day event to showcase the future of tech, constantly working on revolutionising imaging, or deep-diving into researching on AR - the last two of which have resulted in the recent reveals of OPPO’s first, cutting-edge Imaging NPU MariSilicon X, and the Air Glass.

OPPO’s long-term pursuit of Extended Reality (XR) technology is known to all, and during the last two INNO DAY events, the brand has showcased some ground-breaking progress with its AR Glasses prototypes. The result is the new Air Glass, a product that is able to serve people in a way that’s both practical and portable. The Air Glass delivers a vivid and sharp aR display in all types of environments, can be operated using OPPO smartphones and smartwatches, and supports different intuitive interactions such as touch, voice, and motion controls.

OPPO, over the years, has also gained a vast amount of experience in optics and spatial computing technology, working closely with developers to learn more about what both consumers want. Which is how the MariSilicon X has come into being. Built on 6nm process technology, it features an advanced NPU, ISP, and Multi-tier Memory Architecture that delivers incredible image processing power with ultra-high power efficiency. MariSilicon X enables 4K AI Night Video to be captured in the RAW domain using complete image data for the first time on Android smartphones.

Even with its latest smartphone marvel, the Find N, OPPO has worked tirelessly to find creative solutions for everything. The company had been exploring the possibilities of new smartphone form factors since 2017, creating its first version of a foldable device in 2018.

But OPPO believes in taking a product to the market only when they truly believe that users will have good use for it. So, they continued working on new and different approaches to smartphone form factors, including the first rollable concept, the OPPO X.

Over the past four years, OPPO has worked on six generations of foldable devices prototypes, and 448 patents, experimenting with a range of form factors, hinge designs, screen materials and display ratios. This has resulted in the stunning Find N, a ground-breaking, efficient experience that a traditional smartphone cannot provide, solving the main pain points in previous foldable smartphones, such as the crease in the display and overall durability of the device. For instance, OPPO designed the water drop shaped Flexion Hinge for minimal creasing over 200,000 folds! This has been made possible due to the 136 components that have an extreme precision of up to 0.01 mm, ensuring the hinge works as smoothly as the joints in the human body. Reliability has always been a challenge when it comes to foldable devices, but OPPO’s strong R&D efforts through its years of investment in a veteran team of engineers addressed all those pain points.

These years of work are not just numbers, but proof of OPPO’s constant efforts and determination of bringing innovation and latest technology to the world. As the brand moves ahead, its commitment to developing innovations that revolve around user experience will now be driven through its new brand proposition, “Inspiration Ahead”. Taking optimism and inspiration from the challenges and uncertainties everyone is facing in the world today, OPPO is clearly on the path to creating bigger innovations. With these new launches, OPPO has already made a daring statement to the world about its innovation prowess, and we can’t wait to see how it continues to spearhead the future of technology.
