Hyundai explores partnership with TVS to rollout e-3Ws, micro four wheelers in India

A day after launching CRETA Electric, Hyundai Motor on Saturday unveiled concept models of advanced electric three-wheeler and micro four-wheeler on the second day of Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The South Korean auto major is exploring to join hands with TVS Motor to conceptualise development of advanced electric three-wheelers and micro four-wheelers in India.

“While no binding agreements have been explored or executed, Hyundai Motor is exploring the potential to offer design, engineering and technology, while TVS Motor will explore manufacturing and marketing of the vehicles,” Hyundai says in a release today.

Together with TVS Motor, Hyundai plans to contribute to the last-mile mobility market in India by manufacturing and marketing the EVs locally. The concept vehicles will address the pressing need for sustainable mobility, and also align with the evolving demands of Indian roads and urban infrastructure, the release notes.

“Collaborating with TVS Motor, we aim to locally produce the three-wheeler while exploring global opportunities for the four-wheeler, blending intuitive functionality with the spirit of a rapidly innovating India," he adds.

On January 17, Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) launched the much-anticipated Hyundai CRETA Electric at the auto expo at an introductory price of ₹17.99 lakh crore. Speaking at the launch, HMIL MD & CEO, Unsoo Kim expressed optimism about potential of EV market in Indian market, anticipating growth of 20-30% by 2035.

“CRETA Electric marks a defining moment in HMIL’s journey of electrification and reflects our commitment to the government’s ‘Make in India’ vision, as it is our first indigenous EV SUV in India,” said Unsoo Kim.

“We are confident that Hyundai CRETA Electric will set new benchmarks in the Indian EV industry, providing the much-needed push for the growth of the segment,” he added.

The company plans to launch three more mass market EVs in India, which will be manufactured at Talegaon plant in Maharashtra, which is scheduled to begin operation this year. It also aims to set up nearly 600 public EV fast-charging stations across the country in the next 7 years.
