Ola’s foray into the commuter motorcycle segment, which constitutes 75% of India’s two-wheeler sales, is expected to improve its sluggish EV sales.

Electrification of motorcycles is crucial to achieve the government’s 80% EV penetration target for two-wheelers as motorbikes account for two-thirds of total two-wheeler volumes.

So far, electric motorbikes, made by a handful of start-ups, have found fewer takers, mainly because no large automaker was there in the market. Revolt Motors is the biggest player in the tiny e-motorcycle market. The company sold 7,350 e-motorcycles in FY24, as per Vahan data.

Built on Ola Electric's scalable motorcycle platform, the all-new Roadster X series is being introduced starting at ₹74,999 for the Roadster X, ₹1,04,999 for the Roadster X+ 4.5kWh, and ₹1,54,999 for the Roadster X+ 9.1kWh (with 4680 Bharat Cell) that offers a claimed range of 501 kilometres on a single charge.
