The Bose Network: Story TV brings Netaji’s wartime journey to vertical screens with AI-powered drama

Eloelo Group's microdrama platform Story TV is set to release The Bose Network, a historical thriller based on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s wartime journey. The series will premiere at midnight on August 15 on the Story TV app.

The series is being released as a vertical title, designed for mobile-first viewing. According to Story TV, it uses an AI-integrated production pipeline to recreate period settings and locations featured in the story.

AI used in production

The Bose Network is set in the 1940s and follows Bose’s movements across different locations during the war. The series recreates settings including Calcutta, Kabul, Berlin and the interiors of two submarines.

Story TV said AI was used extensively during post-production to create these environments. The company said AI currently contributes to 50% of its production workflow and that it is targeting more than 1,000 AI-powered shows by the end of the fiscal year.

Speaking about the production approach, GSN Aditya, COO, Eloelo Group, said, “Microdrama is evolving into a premium storytelling format, defined by the quality and ambition of its stories.”

“With The Bose Network, we are raising the bar across storytelling, talent, production and visual scale,” he added.

The series is based on research by author and Bose scholar Chandrachur Ghose. Story TV said the show draws on archival material and documented accounts to reconstruct Bose’s movements, the decisions behind them and the people involved in his journey.

The series has been written and directed by Lalit Marathe, one of the writers of Swades (2004).

Marathe said recreating the period required both research and imagination.

“A period film is not built on research alone; it is also built on imagination,” he said, adding that the production sought to recreate a Calcutta “that no living person remembers”.

Marathe said Story TV’s production approach allowed the team to recreate the 1940s across four countries while retaining the scale of a feature-film production.

Hindi, Tamil and Telugu releases

Joy Sengupta plays Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the series, while Sudip Sengupta is the cinematographer. Jar Pictures is the executive producer.

All episodes of The Bose Network will be available on the Story TV app from midnight on August 15 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
