Closing bell: Sensex down by 270 points, Nifty slips under 24,500

Shriram Finance, ITC, Bharat Electronics, Trent, and Asian Paints were the top gainers on the NSE Nifty, while M&M, Infosys, Apollo Hospitals, Adani Enterprises, and Reliance Industries were the laggards.

Eternal, Zomato's parent company, slips by 2.08%, bringing its share price to Rs 309, as a block deal has been reported on the bourses, with 66,76,269 shares changing hands.
