Maruti Suzuki begins electric journey with eVX concept
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), India’s largest carmaker, has taken the wraps off the eVX, a concept electric SUV, in a global premiere at Auto Expo 2023. The unveiling ceremoniously marks the beginning of its journey to have an electric vehicle in its portfolio. Toshihiro Suzuki, representative director and president, Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), has confirmed plans for a launch by 2025. “I am delighted to unveil the Concept eVX, our first global strategic EV. We plan to bring it to market by 2025,” he says. The eVX, which is powered by a 60kWh battery pack, and offers up to 550 kilometres of driving range, is also important for SMC, as it is looks to sell it to other international markets. “The concept eVX is Suzuki’s first global strategic electric vehicle, and I am excited that it debuts here in India,” says Hisashi Takeuchi, managing director and CEO, MSIL.
