Majority of tourists visit spiritual destinations in Gujarat: TCGL

Q1. Tell us about the overall budget of Gujarat Tourism and how it is contributing to the economy of Gujarat?

Gujarat Tourism’s share in overall budget of Gujarat is 0.19% for the financial year 2022-2023, despite getting such small part in the budget of Gujarat state, economic contribution of Gujarat Tourism is around 4.73%. We are determined to raise this number to 6% by a planned roadmap in next financial year.

Q2. What are various types of footfalls observed in tourist destinations of Gujarat since January 2022?

Since January 2022 to July 2022, 6.81 crore of footfall has been observed across Gujarat. Out of which top 5 destinations are Ahmedabad with footfall of 63.33 lakh as a business destination, second is Dwarka with footfall of 36.08 lakhs as a spiritual destination, third is Somnath with footfall of 35.36 lakhs as a spiritual destination, fourth and fifth are Ambaji with footfall of 34.40 lakhs and Pavagadh with footfall of 32.51 lakhs respectively. Looking towards the footfall history, it is clear that majority of tourist flow do visit the spiritual destinations in Gujarat.

Q3. Please put some light on latest tourist destinations opened for the tourist in 2022.

Since January 2022, lots of new destinations have been inaugurated and opened for people of India and world. Destinations like Seema Darshan at Nadabet where the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans put up a gallant show of marching, National Salt Satyagraha Memorial (NSSM) a landmark in the history of India’s freedom struggle, Shivrajpur beach at Devbhoomi Dwarka which is one of India’s Blue flag beach located 12 KM away from Dwarkadhish Temple and India’s biggest Dinosaur museum located at Balasinor where the fossils of Dinosaur where found.

Gujarat is the only state of India with a dessert and a coastline of 1600 km, the home state of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation. The only habitat of the Asiatic lions in India at Gir Forest. World’s tallest statue of Statue of Unity and a lot more. Renowned by its temple towns, historic capitals, wildlife sanctuaries, rich heritage destinations and beaches.
