Adobe has brought more than 70 of its creative and productivity tools directly into Slack, as software companies increasingly look to embed generative AI and content creation capabilities within the workplace applications where employees already collaborate.

The new Adobe for Slack, available globally from September 3 to Slack Business+ and Enterprise+ customers, allows users to invoke Adobe tools through Slackbot, Slack’s built-in AI assistant. Users can draw on information contained in conversations, files, channels and Canvases to create or modify images, videos, PDFs and other content without switching between applications.

“Slack is where work happens, and where AI is turning conversation into action,” Jaime DeLanghe, Chief Product Officer at Slack, said. He added that integrating Adobe’s creative and productivity tools into Slack would allow teams to turn ideas and context from workplace conversations into content and refine it collaboratively without leaving the platform.

More than 70 Adobe tools integrated

The integration spans Adobe’s portfolio, including Firefly, Adobe Express, Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Stock and Lightroom. Users can describe the outcome they want in natural language to Slackbot, which can then call on the relevant Adobe capabilities.

The system can also retrieve and summarise information from a conversation or Canvas before using that context to generate content. Adobe said users can search their Creative Cloud assets by subject, style or mood and bring relevant material into workflows within Slack.

The integration is aimed at a range of workplace use cases, including adapting approved campaign imagery and videos for different social media formats, creating designs from templates, converting spreadsheet data into shareable PDFs or visual content, and making bulk edits to images.

Adobe expands AI distribution strategy

The Slack integration is part of Adobe’s broader push to make its professional creative and document tools accessible through AI chatbot platforms rather than limiting their use to standalone Adobe applications.

Adobe has already extended its tools into ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, while integration with Gemini is planned. The strategy gives users access to selected Adobe capabilities within applications where they are already seeking information, generating content and completing work.

Adobe for Slack can be used without an Adobe account, although signing in or creating a free account provides access to additional tools, generative AI capabilities and Creative Cloud files.

For Slack users, the integration also allows content created through the Adobe app to be shared back into team channels for review and further editing, keeping the creation and approval process within the same workplace environment.
