Strategic convergence across critical technologies

The agreement, signed in Bengaluru, brings together BEL’s longstanding expertise in defence electronics with RRP Group’s capabilities spanning semiconductor manufacturing, electro-optical systems and UAV platforms. The collaboration will focus on jointly identifying, designing and developing advanced technologies for defence and strategic applications, including surveillance systems, weapon sights, semiconductor devices and next-generation unmanned solutions.

The partnership is positioned as a key step towards strengthening India’s indigenous defence ecosystem, at a time when policy thrust on localisation and export-led growth in defence manufacturing is intensifying. The companies said the alliance is also expected to unlock export opportunities in line with the Ministry of Defence’s push to scale outbound shipments.

Leadership bets on indigenous innovation push

“This MoU marks a significant step in our journey towards strengthening the Indian defence ecosystem,” said Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, BEL. “By combining BEL’s expertise in defence electronics with RRP’s capabilities in semiconductor manufacturing, electro-optics and UAV platforms, we are confident of delivering cutting-edge, indigenous solutions that will serve both national and global requirements,” he added.

Echoing the strategic intent, Rajendra Chodankar, Founder and Chairman of RRP Group, said the collaboration would accelerate the company’s contribution to India’s defence technology base. “Through collaboration with BEL, which has long defined excellence in defence electronics, we will advance our efforts to build a dependable and future-ready defence ecosystem aligned with the nation’s long-term priorities,” he noted.

Export potential and scale-up opportunities

The MoU leverages complementary strengths—BEL’s multi-domain product portfolio in radars, communication systems and electronic warfare, and RRP’s emerging footprint in semiconductor packaging, thermal imaging and autonomous systems.

While financial details were not disclosed, industry stakeholders view the partnership as a strategic alignment that could evolve into joint development programmes and scaled manufacturing initiatives, reinforcing India’s push to become a global hub for defence electronics and advanced semiconductor technologies.
