TVS Motor launches Orbiter V1 electric scooter; price starts at ₹49,999 with BaaS

TVS Motor Company has expanded its electric two-wheeler portfolio with the launch of the Orbiter V1 electric scooter and the introduction of a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model across its EV lineup.

What is the price of the TVS Orbiter V1?

The Orbiter V1 is powered by a 1.8 kWh battery and is positioned as the most affordable electric scooter in TVS Motor’s electric portfolio. With the BaaS model, the company said its EV scooter range now starts at ₹49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi, inclusive of PM e-Drive incentives).

Customers who choose to purchase the scooter without the battery subscription can buy the Orbiter V1 at ₹84,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).

What is TVS Motor’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model?

Under the BaaS model, the battery cost is separated from the vehicle price, allowing customers to pay a lower upfront amount while subscribing to battery usage through monthly payments.

TVS said subscription plans start at ₹862 per month and include an extended warranty of up to five years or 70,000 kilometres. The subscription also allows unlimited monthly usage during the selected tenure.

The company said the BaaS model will be available across its electric scooter portfolio.

What are the specifications and features of the TVS Orbiter V1?

The Orbiter V1 has a certified IDC range of 86 kilometres and supports charging from 0 to 80% in around two hours and 20 minutes.

With the launch of the V1 variant, the Orbiter lineup now includes two versions: the V1 with a 1.8 kWh battery and the V2 with a 3.1 kWh battery.

The scooter includes a connected mobile application, a front LED headlamp with visor, and a coloured LCD cluster that displays incoming calls and alerts.

TVS said the scooter has an 845 mm flat seat designed for rider and pillion comfort, a 290 mm footboard, and a wide upright handlebar. It also offers 34 litres of under-seat storage.

Connected features include alerts for crash, fall, anti-theft, geo-fencing, and time-fencing. Riders can check battery charge and odometer readings remotely through the mobile app. The scooter also supports turn-by-turn navigation, hill hold assist, cruise control, parking assist, regenerative braking, and over-the-air software updates.
