Budget 2023: Defence capital outlay enhanced

The government has proposed a budgetary allocation of ₹5.94 lakh crore for the defence ministry.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an allocation of ₹5.94 lakh crore for the Ministry of Defence which is only ₹8,700 crore more than that of revised estimate of 2022-23, whereas in FY23, total revised estimate for expenditure on defence increased by ₹84,000 crore as compared to FY22.
