Britannia Industries reported a 16.6% year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue to ₹5,542 crore in the September quarter of FY27, driven by 13% volume growth, even as profit growth trailed sales expansion. Net profit rose 10.8% to ₹726 crore, indicating that inflationary pressures remain a concern for the packaged foods maker.
The company’s performance was supported by broad-based demand across channels and key states, with growth extending beyond its core biscuit business to bakery, adjacent categories and international markets. Sequentially, the company also reported an improvement in momentum, with revenue growing 12% and net profit rising 22% over the June quarter.
For the six months ended September 30, Britannia’s consolidated revenue increased 13.1% to ₹10,506 crore, compared with the year-ago period, supported by volume growth of 11%. Net profit for the first half of FY27 stood at ₹1,319 crore, up 12.3% year-on-year.
Several companies in the consumer goods sector continue to navigate input cost pressures. Britannia itself flagged inflation as an area of concern, although it did not disclose the extent of the impact on margins or identify specific commodities driving the pressure.
Beyond biscuits, bakery and adjacent categories drive growth
Commenting on the performance, Rakshit Hargave, CEO and managing director of Britannia Industries, said the company had sustained its top-line momentum through double-digit volume and value growth across channels and key markets. "Our Bakery and adjacency portfolio – alongside the International business, registered strong acceleration complementing the Biscuit growth," Hargave said.
The expansion across categories suggests that Britannia is looking to widen its growth drivers beyond biscuits, its traditional core business. The company did not, however, provide a category-wise revenue or volume breakdown in its announcement.
Brand investments and regional marketing campaigns also formed part of its strategy to strengthen consumer engagement during the quarter. These included a Bourbon collaboration for Ganesh Chaturthi and a 50-50 Cheeze Dipped campaign for Onam, aimed at tapping regional consumption patterns. The company also undertook targeted campaigns across Little Hearts, Winkin' Cow and NutriChoice, using digital-first and platform-specific activations to connect with different consumer groups.
Hargave said the company remained watchful of inflationary pressures while focusing on sustainable and profitable growth through execution, innovation and cost efficiency.
