Godrej Appliances is cutting prices of air conditioners and dishwashers by about 8% following the government’s recent GST reduction in the consumer durables segment, a move the company says will help it double down on growth during the festive season.
“We welcome the GST reduction in the consumer durables segment which translates into a price drop of around 8% on ACs and dishwashers, which is being passed on completely to our customers,” said Kamal Nandi, business head and executive vice president, Appliances Business, Godrej Enterprises Group.
The price cut comes at a crucial time for the sector, with demand expected to pick up momentum ahead of the festive period. Nandi said Godrej is eyeing a 40% jump in overall sales over last year, with air conditioners targeted for a 100% year-on-year growth. “With the right mix of affordability, accessibility, and variety, we are confident of further strengthening our position in the market,” he added.

2025 is shaping up to be the year of electric car sales. In a first, India’s electric vehicles (EV) industry crossed the sales milestone of 100,000 units in FY25, fuelled by a slew of launches by major players, including Tata Motors, M&M, Ashok Leyland, JSW MG Motor, Hyundai, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. The issue also looks at the challenges ahead for Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran in his third term, and India’s possible responses to U.S. president Donald Trump’s 50% tariff on Indian goods. The company is also aligning itself with the government’s renewed push for domestic manufacturing. “We welcome our Honourable Prime Minister’s call to embrace ‘Swadeshi - Made in India’ products. It aligns closely with Godrej’s long-standing commitment to offering products that are designed to meet the unique needs of Indian households,” Nandi said, highlighting that all Godrej ACs and more than 99% of its portfolio are made in India.
Industry observers say the GST cut could provide a timely boost to the consumer durables market, where price sensitivity and seasonal demand patterns heavily influence buying decisions. For Godrej, the combination of lower prices, a largely domestic manufacturing base, and a wide distribution network positions it to capture a larger slice of the festive demand surge.
“This initiative from the Government comes at the right time as the country gears up for the festive season,” Nandi said.
