Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a keynote address at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2025, confidently stated there is no doubt that very soon, India is set to become the world's third-largest economy.
"Kuchhi varso mein hum duniya ki gyaaravi se paanchvi sabse badi ekonomi bane hain (in just a few years, we've risen from the world's 11th largest economy to the 5th largest)," said the Prime Minister in his speech.
He said despite numerous global challenges, India didn't stop, and accelerated its pace, doubling the size of its economy within a decade. "Those who once thought India would progress slowly and steadily now witness a fast and fearless India. There is no doubt that very soon, India is set to become the world's third-largest economy," said the Prime Minister.

As of 2025, India remains the fifth largest economy in the world, with the US, China, Germany and Japan leading ahead of the country in terms of overall GDP.
PM Modi said that the government has laid the foundation of the future in the 100 days of 2025.
“Youth aspiration has been the focus of the first 100-day decisions of the government. We have exempted tax on Rs 12 lakh income, which will benefit young professionals. We became the fourth largest nation to allow satellite docking and undocking, we are opening nuclear energy sector like space sector, we also announced the decision to setup 8th pay commission and gig economy will be given the coverage under social security,” he said emphasising that inclusivity is not just a promise but a policy.
“The mantra of performance is the energy behind Rising Bharat,” says PM Modi.
Speaking on the upcoming WAVE Summit, an initiative by the government, PM Modi said, “We have a vibrant movie, podcast, and gaming industry, and we have decided to take it to the next level by the ‘Create in India’ move through the WAVE platform.”
