Srikanth Velamakanni, co-founder and group chief executive of AI firm Fractal Analytics, has been appointed chairperson of Nasscom, the apex body representing India’s $250-billion technology sector. He succeeds Sindhu Gangadharan, managing director of SAP Labs India, who completes her term in April 2026.

Alongside, the Nasscom Executive Council has elected Kishor Patil, co-founder, CEO and managing director of KPIT Technologies, as vice chairman.

Velamakanni takes over the role after serving as vice chairperson and as a member of Nasscom’s executive council for over six years. As co-founder of one of India’s earliest and most prominent AI-first enterprises, he brings deep expertise in enterprise AI, analytics, responsible technology, and global go-to-market strategy at a defining moment for the industry.

He is the group chief executive of Fractal, a leading player in artificial intelligence and enterprise decision transformation, which recently debuted on the BSE and the NSE after raising ₹2,834 crore through an IPO.

An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Velamakanni is also a founder-trustee of Plaksha University and has been an active voice in shaping India’s AI policy and innovation ecosystem.

“Working closely with Rajesh Nambiar, President, Nasscom, and the Executive Council, Srikanth will steer the industry’s agenda across a set of interconnected priorities that reflect where the global technology landscape is headed,” Nasscom said in a statement.

According to the release, the focus will be on accelerating services transformation through AI, while catalysing product innovation and advancing agentic AI to position India as a leading hub for autonomous, multi-agent systems and vertical AI products for global markets.

“I am delighted to take on the role of Nasscom Chairperson at this critical juncture. AI progress is unlocking unprecedented opportunities for enterprises—large and small—to reimagine their businesses,” Velamakanni said, adding that India is well placed to lead the next phase of AI-driven growth across both services and products.

Nambiar said Velamakanni brings a rare combination of entrepreneurial drive and deep AI expertise to the role. “Under his leadership, and with the collective strength of our Executive Council, we will continue to strengthen the industry’s position as the world’s most trusted partner for AI-led transformation.”
