After thousands of users of Microsoft 365 complained about issues with accessing their Outlook emails, the company acknowledged the issue saying it's reviewing the whole situation. The data by outage detector Downdetector also showed thousands of users facing issues with Outlook mail.
Microsoft attributed the outage to a recent code update. "We’re reviewing available telemetry and customer provided logs to understand the impact. We’ve confirmed this issue is impacting various Microsoft 365 services. Refer to MO1020913 for more detailed information," Microsoft said via X.
The company said after reversing the change, the services have been restored. "We identified a potential cause of impact and have reverted the suspected code to alleviate impact. We’re monitoring telemetry to confirm recovery."
"We’ll keep monitoring until impact has been resolved for all services. Refer to MO1020913 or https://portal.office.com/ServiceStatus for more detailed information," said the company.
Further, the company added that following its reversion of the problematic code change, it has monitored service telemetry and worked with previously impacted users to confirm that service has been restored.
Earlier, some users took to social media to complain they were unable to access Outlook email. "While you investigate the issue, I will investigate the ire of my users," a user complained via X.
Another said: "I lost access to every exchange online account I have, iOS says Sign in over and over again, it’s quite annoying cause it won’t quit with the pop ups."
A user with a handle @kimlei71 urged the company to restore the services at the earliest. "My Son & I both cannot access our accounts, which is currently of vital importance! This needs to be fixed ASAP!!! Please!! Desperate over here."
