Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India sees future in Artificial Intelligence and urged the global leaders to “design in India” and “deliver to the world”.

“We have talent, energy capacity, and policy clarity. From semiconductors to chip making, India is building a resilient AI ecosystem. Secured data centres, strong IT backbone, dynamic startup ecosystem make India a natural hub for affordable, scalable and secure AI. India has diversity, demography and democracy. The AI model that succeeds in India can be deployed globally. That is why I urge all of you to design and develop in India, deliver to the world, and deliver to humanity,” PM Modi said in his inaugural address at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

“I am happy to convey that in this summit three Indian companies have launched their AI models and apps. These models showcase the talent of our youth. They also reflect the depth and diversity of the models India is provided,” Modi added.

AI should not become monopoly but multiplier: PM Modi

Prime Minister Modi said AI should not become a monopoly but a multiplier. "This is India's human vision for the AI-led 21st century world," he said.

He said India builds and adopts new technologies at an unprecedented speed, while adding that the AI Impact summit is the largest and historical AI summit. "India builds new tech and adopts them with unprecedented speed," Modi said. PM Modi said the presence of the young generation in the Summit instills new confidence.

PM Modi raised concerns on deep fakes and fabricated content and their potential to create disorders in the civil society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said there is a need for a resolve to develop AI as a global common good. “We need to build global standards. Deep fakes, fabricated content leading to disturbances in the civil society. Authenticity labels are a must in the digital world so that people can distinguish between original and AI content,” said Modi in his inaugural address at the AI Impact summit.

PM Modi calls for safeguarding AI tech. “As AI creates more and more text, images, and videos, the need for watermarking and clear source standards in the industry is increasing. That is why these safeguards should be built into the technology from the very beginning,” he said.
