Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited (RSBVL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), has acquired a 50.1% equity stake in Sikhya Entertainment Private Limited (SEPL) for an aggregate cash consideration of ₹150 crore, according to an official statement. The transaction was carried out through a combination of primary and secondary deals.

The acquisition will enable Jio Studios, RIL’s media and content arm, to further consolidate its presence in India’s media and entertainment sector and take Indian stories to global audiences, RIL said in a release on Tuesday.

Co-founded by producers Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, Sikhya Entertainment is one of India’s most globally recognised and awarded production houses. It is the only Indian production company to have won both an Academy Award and multiple National Film Awards. Its Academy Award-winning titles include Period. End of Sentence. and The Elephant Whisperers, while National Film Award-winning films include MasaanSoorarai Pottru and Kathal.

“The collaboration of Jio Studios with SEPL to co-create films and series for audiences in India and worldwide brings together Jio Studios’ scale, reach, focus on building enduring intellectual property, nurturing creator-led ecosystems and long-term vision with SEPL’s proven track record of globally resonant, culturally rooted storytelling,” the release said.

Jio Studios has emerged as a key player in India’s entertainment ecosystem, backing films with strong creative and commercial conviction. Its portfolio includes titles such as DhurandharLaapataa Ladies and the Stree franchise.

Commenting on the partnership, Jyoti Deshpande, President – Jio Studios (Media & Content Business, RIL), said Sikhya Entertainment has consistently delivered stories that are deeply Indian yet resonate globally. She added that the association reflects Jio Studios’ long-term belief in partnering with creators who combine creative excellence with cultural authenticity.

Deshpande said that over the past seven years, Jio Studios has built a strong track record of producing and championing both box office successes and critically acclaimed films, from Dhurandhar to Stree 2 and Laapataa Ladies, which progressed to the Oscars.

Jio Studios, the media and content arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has built a strong body of work across films and series in Hindi and major Indian languages. In just seven years, the studio has delivered over 150 films and web series, with 55 of its titles winning more than 450 awards in India and internationally.
