Castrol India is a part of the British multinational oil and gas company, BP Group. The company was founded by Charles Wakefield to develop lubricants for automobile and aeroplane engines. In India, the company is led by Kedar Lele and headquartered in Mumbai. It produces oils and lubricants for compressors, hydraulic systems, engines, and automobiles. Castrol products can be used in industries like power generation, data centres and IT cooling, food and beverages, mining, pulp and paper, and oil and gas. In addition to land vehicles, its products have been used to lubricate jet engines and cabin superchargers and develop jet turbine oil. Its subsea control fluids can perform up to 3000 m below sea level and in temperatures as low as -60°C. In lieu of increasing use of EVs, the company has extended its portfolio to include EV transmission fluids, thermal fluids, and greases.
