Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd. (Lloyds) was incorporated in 1977 as a steel manufacturing company and is now one of Maharashtra’s largest coal-based Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) manufacturers. The company was originally promoted by Mukesh Gupta, B.L. Agarwal, and Rajesh Gupta, with Rajesh Gupta serving as the CEO. Lloyds has a strategic partnership with Thriveni Earth Movers Pvt Ltd, India’s largest Mining Development Operator (MDO), to strengthen its mining operations.Headquartered in Anjar, Gujarat, Lloyds operates a 270,000 TPA DRI manufacturing facility in Ghugus Village, Chandrapur district, alongside a 30 MW captive power plant. The company is fully integrated across the steel value chain, from iron ore mining to DRI production, with plans for forward integration into steel manufacturing. After facing operational challenges due to regional instability, Lloyds successfully recommenced full-capacity mining operations in FY22 through its partnership with Thriveni Earth Movers.
