BMW Group India reported its highest-ever sales in the first half of the year, delivering 7,098 units (BMW and MINI) to customers, the German luxury car manufacturer says in a release. This marks a 21% increase in the same period in 2023.
“BMW Group India delivered 7,098 cars (BMW and MINI) and 3,614 motorcycles (BMW Motorrad). BMW sold 6,734 units and MINI 364 units,” the release notes.
The company attributed its robust sales performance to high demand for its sports activity vehicles (SAVs), luxury class, and electric cars. The SAVs made up 54% of total sales, growing 24% year-on-year, with the BMW X1 leading the segment with a 19% share in total sales. The BMW 3 Series was the top-selling sedan, accounting for 17% of sales.
The luxury carmaker's luxury class models, including the BMW 7 Series, BMW i7, BMW X7, and BMW XM, saw a 17% year-on-year growth, contributing 18% to the total sales, with the BMW X7 being the best-seller in this segment.
During the first half of 2024, BMW sold 397 units of electric BMW and Mini cars, with the BMW i7 being the top-selling electric vehicle (EV). Additionally, BMW becomes the first luxury car manufacturer in India to surpass 2,000 EV sales, with the BMW iX being the most popular luxury EV in the country, having sold over 1,000 units, the release states.
