Chhaava has crossed the ₹100 crore mark within just three days of its opening weekend. According to box office collection data provider Sacnilk, the film has garnered an estimated gross of ₹116.8 crore over the last three days. The highest box office collection was recorded on Sunday, with an impressive ₹48.5 crore, followed by Saturday, when the film grossed ₹37 crore.
The film's Hindi occupancy has also shown improvement, reaching 62.48%, with evening shows drawing the highest audience turnout, followed by afternoon screenings.
Despite its strong box office performance, Chhaava has received mixed reviews from the audience.
Pune and Mumbai have recorded the highest occupancy levels, with theaters reporting an impressive 90-97% seating capacity being filled for the film. This strong turnout could also be attributed to the absence of any other major releases making a significant impact at the box office.
Vicky Kaushal leads the cast as Sambhaji, with Rashmika Mandanna portraying Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna takes on the role of Aurangzeb, while Ashutosh Rana plays Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta appears as Soyarabai. The film is an adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s acclaimed Marathi novel Chhava.
A. R. Rahman has composed the film’s score and soundtrack, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Originally scheduled for release on 6 December 2024, Chhaava was later postponed to 14 February 2025.
Produced by Maddock Films, Chhaava comes from a production house that has carved a niche in Bollywood with its successful horror-comedy universe. Despite working with modest budgets, Maddock Films has consistently delivered box office hits, earning a reputation for crafting commercially successful films.
