Third wave of Covid-19 is continuing to spread across the country with 2.83 lakh new cases recorded in the last 24 hours. India's active caseload currently stands at 18.31 lakh patients with a daily positivity rate of 15.13% and weekly positivity rate of 15.53%. The country did 18.69 lakh tests in the last 24 hours.

Omicron cases in the country are now at 8,961, an increase of 0.79% since yesterday.

Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 39,207 new cases, 26% more than Monday. Karnataka recorded 33,048 new infections and 20 deaths, with Bangalore accounting for nearly 26,000 new cases. Kerala reported 28,481 new cases with a test positivity rate (TPR) of 35.3%. Tamil Nadu registered 23,888 new Covid-19 cases and 29 deaths in 24 hours. Meanwhile, Delhi (11,684 cases), Andhra Pradesh (5,926 cases), Assam (5,612 cases), Gujarat (9,226 cases), Madhya Pradesh (4,477 cases), Uttar Pradesh (5,502 cases) also reported high number of new cases.
