Shares of Shiprocket and Behari Lal Engineering remained in focus today after both companies released their first quarterly performance updates since their stock-market debuts last month. While Shiprocket shares gained up to 6% in early trade as its Q1 loss narrowed, Behari Lal Engineering dropped more than 2% despite reporting growth in both profit and revenue.

Reacting to the Q1 numbers, shares of Shiprocket surged 5.9% to ₹143.80 on the BSE, with its market capitalisation climbing above ₹10,270 crore. On the other hand, shares of Behari Lal Engineering slipped as much as 2.4% to hit a low of ₹466.85, taking its market capitalisation to ₹1,974 crore.

Meanwhile, the equity benchmarks - Sensex and Nifty - were trading 0.5% lower each, tracking weak cues from global peers.

Shiprocket Q1 loss narrows to ₹13.7 crore

The logistics and e-commerce enablement platform reported a 34% year-on-year increase in revenue from operations to ₹592.1 crore in Q1 FY27. Its contribution margin expanded 124 basis points year-on-year to 19.4%, while adjusted EBITDA surged to ₹8.9 crore from ₹1 crore in the year-ago quarter.

The company’s net loss narrowed 24% year-on-year to ₹13.7 crore during the quarter, compared with ₹18 crore in the same period last year.

Shiprocket said its core business generated adjusted EBITDA of ₹52.7 crore at a margin of 12.8%. At the same time, the company continued to invest in its emerging business, which recorded 70% year-on-year revenue growth. The emerging segment’s contribution margin also improved significantly, rising to 15.3% from 9.3% a year earlier.

The company said it remained adjusted EBITDA positive throughout the quarter, with newer businesses accounting for 30% of revenue, compared with 24% a year earlier.

Shiprocket made a strong debut on August 19, with its shares listing at ₹131 on the NSE, a 35.05% premium over its IPO price of ₹97. The ₹1,617-crore IPO was subscribed nearly 100 times.

Behari Lal Engineering Q1 profit jumps 24%

The Punjab-based company reported a 24.5% year-on-year increase in consolidated profit to ₹19.2 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with ₹15.4 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue increased 18% to ₹151.7 crore from ₹128.5 crore.

The integrated iron and steel manufacturer made a blockbuster debut on August 19. Its shares listed at ₹465 on the NSE, a 63.15% premium over the IPO price of ₹285, before climbing to an intraday high of ₹537. The stock eventually closed its debut session at ₹508, marking a gain of around 78.25% over the issue price.
