Jay Kotak, co-head of Kotak 811, says building any business is a set of solving small problems step by step.

For every problem you solve, three more kind of manifest themselves, says Kotak who featured in the 2024 edition of Fortune India's 40Under40 list.

“I don’t think in business there is one particular problem that I am solving that I would say is a big one,” Kotak says.

Kotak says the turning point of his career has been the day he joined 811. “Building a digital business at scale in India is so exciting and I am glad to be here and part of the journey,” Kotak says.

Kotak advises young entrepreneurs to invest more in people. “Be a little less emotional and aggressive and listen to your parents more,” he says.

To unwind, Kotak spends time playing video games. “There are a number of video games I really enjoy which I try to play once a week if not more,” he says.
