She has her finger in many pies—revival, innovation, philanthropy, and fashion designing. When Anamika Khanna is away from her design studio, she is busy thinking up ideas to restore traditional handicraft techniques or to change the way the world looks at the saree, kurta or dhoti. And when she is away from both these fields, she’s engaged in philanthropic activities. Khanna combines her love for Indian textiles and Indian fashion to create outfits that are relevant and wearable for the modern woman. Now she also produces ready-to-wear, menswear and bridal line products catering to both Indian and international clients. Different from her couture label ‘Anamika Khanna’, AK-OK—meant for a younger, experimental clientele—was launched in 2019. In 2021, Reliance Brands Ltd entered a 60:40 partnership with AK-OK. A former dancer and painter with no formal training in fashion designing, Khanna managed to create a brand that was seen and loved at the Paris Fashion Week, the iconic Harrods in London and several other Indian and international stores, in addition to winning several awards. As the brand continues to evolve, she is all set to unveil an exclusive bag collection, along with many more exciting additions to her collection, in the coming months.
