JioBlackRock International AMC (IFSC) on Monday launched the JioBlackRock Advantage World Equity Fund, an open-ended fund-of-funds scheme designed to provide eligible investors access to global equity markets through GIFT City. The fund will invest primarily in BlackRock’s Advantage World Equity Fund, a globally diversified active equity strategy, allowing investors to complement their domestic portfolios with international exposure.
The minimum initial investment has been set at $5,000, while additional investments can be made with a minimum amount of $1,000. According to the company, 90-100% of the scheme’s investments will be allocated to units of the underlying BlackRock Advantage World Equity Fund.
JioBlackRock International AMC (IFSC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of JioBlackRock Asset Management. The launch expands the investment options available through GIFT City, India’s international financial services hub, by providing eligible investors with a route to participate in global equity markets under applicable overseas investment frameworks.
Global diversification through a feeder-fund structure
The newly launched scheme follows a feeder-fund structure, investing predominantly in an underlying fund that provides exposure to companies across developed markets, including the United States, Europe and Japan. The underlying strategy has a track record of more than eight years and seeks to capture long-term growth opportunities across geographies, sectors and companies.
The structure is intended to complement investors’ domestic equity holdings rather than replace them, offering geographical diversification beyond Indian markets. However, international equity investments remain subject to market fluctuations, currency movements and other risks associated with overseas exposure.
The GIFT City route also offers access to an investment product within a regulated international financial centre, potentially addressing some of the constraints associated with traditional overseas investment avenues.
JioBlackRock expands global investing ambitions
Commenting on the launch, Sid Swaminathan, managing director and chief executive officer of JioBlackRock Asset Management, said the introduction of the fund through GIFT City marked a significant step towards widening access to international investing opportunities.
“We believe global diversification will become an increasingly important component of long-term wealth creation, and this launch marks the beginning of our broader ambition to build a world-class investing platform from GIFT City,” Swaminathan said.
The company said the fund would enable investors to complement their India exposure with access to global growth opportunities, providing an additional avenue for long-term wealth creation.
The launch comes as investment platforms seek to widen access to international markets through products structured within GIFT City. The scheme is available to eligible investors, subject to the applicable regulatory and investment requirements.
JioBlackRock said the fund aims to provide a globally diversified investment solution through an actively managed equity strategy, with its underlying portfolio spanning multiple markets and sectors.
