2025 is shaping up to be the year of electric car sales. In a first, India’s electric vehicles (EV) industry crossed the sales milestone of 100,000 units in FY25, fuelled by a slew of launches by major players, including Tata Motors, M&M, Ashok Leyland, JSW MG Motor, Hyundai, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. The issue also looks at the challenges ahead for Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran in his third term, and India’s possible responses to U.S. president Donald Trump’s 50% tariff on Indian goods. Of the two-days, one day will be devoted to a research symposium, an interdisciplinary gathering for researchers and practitioners from India, the Global South, and the international community. This will entail frontier AI research, methodology exchange, evidence sharing, and collaboration opportunities.
Like Startup Mahakumbh and Bharat Mobility, the summit will also host an AI Expo featuring over 300 exhibitors from India and 30 countries. These will be divided into theme-based pavilions.
Why are AI Summits held?
This summit will be the successor to the 2025 AI Action Summit held in France earlier this year. The 2024 AI Summit was held in South Korea, with 2023 AI Safety Summit hosted at Bletchley Park in the UK. These summits are a bid to bring global stakeholders working in the field of AI to one table and ensure safe advancement in the sector.
As part of the summit the government has also asked private organisations to host events in partnership with the IndiaAI mission as run-up to the two-day summit.
