Meta has announced plans to expand the availability of its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, to new international markets. As part of a broader global expansion, the eyewear will soon be launched in India, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates, the company revealed in a blogpost on April 23.
While the post hinted that the glasses could be released before the end of summer, the official rollout is expected sometime within the current calendar year. Pricing details for the Indian market remain undisclosed.
Meta is also pushing a cutting-edge AI vision feature that enables the built-in assistant to “see” and interpret surroundings in real-time, in select markets. This allows for more contextual and natural interactions without the need to repeatedly use a wake phrase. Users can simply speak to the glasses, and the AI responds intelligently based on what it sees.
The glasses now offer enhanced functionality, including direct messaging and voice calling through Instagram, alongside existing integrations with Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Shazam. These features are currently available to users whose system language is set to English. Meta AI has also been upgraded to identify songs and deliver music information on demand.

Interaction with Meta AI remains simple and intuitive—users just need to say, “Hey Meta” to activate the assistant. The glasses support a wide array of features, including real-time Q&A, creative prompts, music playback, and hands-free communication. Equipped with built-in cameras and speakers, the smart glasses allow users to capture photos and videos, make voice and video calls, and send messages across platforms such as WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
In addition to hardware capabilities, Meta is also expanding the software potential of its smart glasses. A live translation feature, now being rolled out globally, enables real-time voice translation between English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Users can also download language packs for offline use and view translated transcripts directly on their smartphones.
These AI-powered smart glasses deliver a seamless, hands-free experience by combining Meta AI access, real-time language translation, music and messaging features, and multimedia capabilities.
