U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that a trilateral is set to take place with Russia President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his recent post on his social media platform Truth Social.

“After that meeting takes place, we will have a Trilat, which would be the two Presidents, plus myself. Again, this was a very good, early step for a War that has been going on for almost four years. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, are coordinating with Russia and Ukraine,” he added.

Trump wrote that initially the United States of America will arrange a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy, only after which the U.S. will engage in trilateral talks.

This comes following Trump’s meeting with seven heads of European nations, NATO and European Union.

“I had a very good meeting with distinguished guests, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron, of France, President Alexander Stubb, of Finland, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, of Italy, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, of the United Kingdom, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz, President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, in the White House, which ended in a further meeting in the Oval Office,” Trump wrote in his post.

He added that the meeting entailed the discussion on the security guarantee as requested by Ukraine as part of the truce aside from guarantees for the other bordering European nations.

“During the meeting we discussed Security Guarantees for Ukraine, which Guarantees would be provided by the various European Countries, with a coordination with the United States of America. Everyone is very happy about the possibility of PEACE for Russia/Ukraine. At the conclusion of the meetings, I called President Putin, and began the arrangements for a meeting, at a location to be determined, between President Putin and President Zelenskyy,” he added.

Zelenskyy revealed in a post on X that the security guarantees were around the return of prisoners of war and children in Russia.

“We discussed security guarantees. This is a key issue, a starting point towards ending the war. We appreciate the important signal from the United States regarding its readiness to support and be part of these guarantees. A lot of attention today was given to the return of our children, to the release of prisoners of war and civilians held by Russia. We agreed to work on this. The U.S. President also supported a meeting at the level of leaders. Such a meeting is necessary to resolve sensitive issues,” he wrote.

Commenting on the meeting, European Commission’s Von Der Leyen wrote in a post on X, “This is an important moment, as we continue to work on strong security guarantees for Ukraine and a lasting and durable peace. We are working to end the bloodshed in Ukraine. And achieve a just and lasting peace.”
