The motorcycle will be imported as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and can now be pre-ordered across authorised BMW Motorrad dealerships nationwide. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2026.

“The M 1000 R combines superbike performance with roadster dynamics and reflects our M performance engineering,” said Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India.

Expanding presence in premium motorcycle segment

The launch comes amid steady demand growth for high-performance motorcycles in India, with global manufacturers increasingly introducing niche models targeted at enthusiasts and track-focused riders.

The roadster is powered by a 999 cc water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine producing 210 hp at 13,750 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 11,100 rpm. The motorcycle can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 280 km/h.

It features BMW ShiftCam technology, which optimises valve timing to enhance torque delivery at lower speeds while maintaining strong peak power output. The engine also incorporates titanium valves and lightweight cam followers aimed at improving efficiency and performance.

Track-oriented engineering and technology

The motorcycle includes aerodynamic winglets that increase front-wheel load at higher speeds, improving stability during aggressive riding and cornering. According to the company, the winglets generate an additional 11 kg of downforce at 220 km/h.

It also features a revised Dynamic Traction Control system derived from the RR platform along with a quick-action throttle designed to enable faster acceleration and improved control on track days.

The motorcycle is equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT instrument display and multiple riding modes including Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race, along with configurable Race Pro settings. Additional features include launch control, pit-lane limiter, adaptive lighting, cruise control and heated grips.
