Anupam Thareja, Co-founder, Classic Legends, said the latest 42 is intended to carry forward the characteristics of the motorcycle while adapting it to current rider requirements. He said the company was not looking to abandon what made the Jawa 42 distinctive, but to determine what those characteristics should mean for today’s rider

The changes cover both the motorcycle’s appearance and underlying engineering. Jawa has revised the rear section, side panels, footpegs and exhaust, while also making changes to mass, frame and swingarm stiffness, ergonomics, handling and comfort. The 42 continues with its 13.2-litre fuel tank, round headlamp and bench-style seat.

The rear of the motorcycle now uses a wider fender and a 150/70-17 tyre, while the sculpted seat has been redesigned with additional cushioning. Seat height is 795 mm. A new alloy-wheel design and a compact upswept twin exhaust are also part of the update.

Jawa says the changes to the frame, swingarm stiffness and mass, along with revisions to ergonomics and suspension, are intended to alter the motorcycle’s handling and comfort characteristics. The motorcycle retains a double-cradle frame, telescopic front forks and gas-filled twin rear shock absorbers with adjustable preload.
